Simon Rogan’s culinary journey began with his father, who worked at a wholesale fruit and vegetable market in Southampton. Every evening, he brought home the day’s best produce, exposing young Simon to various exotic fruits. Though initially a picky eater, this early experience ignited Simon’s interest in quality, fresh ingredients and seasonal produce, often foraged for.
In 2002, Simon and his partner Penny opened L’Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria, showcasing local ingredients. Simon’s commitment to the highest quality ingredients, both farmed and foraged, led to L’Enclume receiving its first Michelin star in 2005, a second in 2013, and a third in 2022, the same year that the restaurant celebrated its 20th anniversary. The restaurant now also holds five AA Rosettes and joint number one position in La Liste.
Simon’s dedication to British cuisine is evident in his flagship restaurant, which utilises ingredients sourced as locally as possible. Central to this approach is “Our Farm,” Simon Rogan’s own farm, which supplies L’Enclume with the majority of the kitchen’s produce, grown to his exacting standards.
Simon now has ten award-winning restaurants around the world. Find out more about his global expansion here.
